Carl F. Krauth
Inducted January 2004

As with so many faithful workers in soccer, Carl Krauth has spend the 28 years since 1975 heavily involved as a volunteer, coach, administrator, program developer and leader in our member Youth Leagues, our Youth and Adult Amateur divisions, the State Association, the High School Program, and the United States Soccer Federation.

Carl’s Youth Coaching career spans 22 years during which he served in 8 of our member youth leagues, often coaching more than one team.  For three years he also served as Assistant coach to a local high school girl’s team, and actively worked on the effort that resulted in girl’s varsity soccer being recognized in Cobb County in 1985.  Carl served on the Cobb County Soccer Council for 10 years.

For 20 years Carl’s list of titles provide a familiar dictionary of tasks that he assumed in addition to coaching duties:  League Treasurer, Vice President, President, Field Acquisition Committee Member, Scheduler, Select Program Director, Recreation Program Director, League Merger Committee Member, and member and leader of more than one league Board of Directors.

Carl has been continually involved over the years in our Georgia youth Soccer Division.  He began with an active three year stint his League’s Representative.  For four years he served as the Georgia Youth Soccer Division Treasurer, Vice President, President and Past President.  As GYSA President he oversaw development of the state-wide July Fourth Georgia Cracker Tournament and helped negotiate a first-time major sponsorship for the Labor Day Coffee Cup.  Later he helped to secure additional sponsorship for our annual state-wide Labor Day Cup.

Extending his leadership talents, Carl also served for three years in the Georgia Adult Amateur Division as State Chair and Co-Chair for the USSF National Cup participation.  Later he served for another three years as State Chair and as Director of Competitions for that program.

He served on the GSSA Board for 12 years in positions as GYSA Representative, GYSA Chairman, and served at three different times as GSSA Chairman of the Board and Past Chairman.  During his three terms as Board Chairman major program initiatives included the Ford-Pele College Scholarships, the GSSA Skills-o-Rama, the Olympic Development Program restructuring, the initial 1991 Atlanta World Cup Bid Committee endowment to GSSA, and the development of the Georgia Soccer Foundation.

Carl’s service to the USSF included 7 years on the National Appeals Committee, the USYSA Region III Restructuring Committee, the USSF Soccer Summit, and the USYSA Region III Representative to the (Indoor) Futsal Committee, and service as a Field Marshal in the Olympic Semi-Finals and Finals held in Athens, Georgia.

Carl still actively serves in the sport he loves.  Such a life and accomplishment in soccer typifies the dedication that this Georgia Soccer Hall of Fame award is meant to recognize.
