RECREATIONAL YOUTH SOCCER
The Recreational Program is a developmental soccer program for all youth players. Assigning players to recreational team rosters on the basis of talent by the use of tryouts, invitations, recruiting, or similar processes is prohibited. Recreational players may not be “cut” from a team. A system for rostering players to teams must be used to establish a fair and balanced distribution of playing talent among all teams participating in the same age group within a given league. Georgia Soccer supports US Youth Soccer’s teaching philosophy with respect to small-sided soccer in U-06, U-08 and U-10. This philosophy allows the game to be the teacher by maximizing each player’s touches on the ball and encourages all the players to develop their skills in all positions. Further, the philosophy discourages intense competition until the older age groups.
Many of our member affiliates have registration numbers that allow for all recreational based teams to play within the jurisdiction of that affiliate member. We do have member affiliates that need assistance in finding games for a regular season of play for certain age groups. Georgia Soccer offers, at no charge, the Recreational Inter-Affiliate Scheduling Program (RIAS). This program allows for teams to schedule games with teams from other members of Georgia Soccer. The RIAS program is offered in the Fall and Spring seasons and is open to boys/coed teams and girls teams from the age group's U10 through U19.
The state is divided into Regions/Districts; each of these regions/districts has an RIAS scheduling coordinator
assigned that aids all members within that region of coordinating a schedule for the season.
