Georgia Soccer and Sporting CP Announce Partnership

GEORGIA SOCCER IS PROUD TO PRESENT
SPORTING CLUBE DE PORTUGAL/GEORGIA SOCCER
ADVANCED COACHING SEMINAR

ELITE PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
JANUARY 21-22, 2012, ALTANTA, GA

Georgia Soccer and Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting CP) have partnered to enhance coaching education and player development in Georgia. The Elite Player Development Seminar marks the launch of this partnership.

Sporting CP is famous for producing such stars as Christiano Ronaldo, Nani, Figo, Paulo Futre, plus many other international class players. Sporting CP is one of the first European clubs to build a state of the art youth academy and has received many accolades for their player development system. The Sporting CP youth academy is ranked second only to Barcelona by UEFA for their player development structure and production. Their academy has nurtured and provided the Sporting CP first team a continuous stream of quality players, enabling the team to remain at the top of Portuguese soccer and win a few European trophies to boot. The current Portuguese National team that qualified for the 2012 European Championship contains no fewer than 8 players developed in the Sporting CP Academy.

The Elite Player Development Seminar will be conducted by the Sporting CP coaches. The seminar will focus on the progression Sporting CP coaching staff use in their academy, starting from 1v1 training all the way to 11v11 training with the priorities for each age group. The methodology will be outlined in classroom sessions and demonstrated in field sessions, along with the related key coaching points and appropriate activities

“Our youth coaches will get an unparalleled opportunity to expand their horizon and be exposed to the proven methods used by one of the premier academies in the world” says Jacob Daniel, the Georgia Soccer Director of Coaching. According to Daniel, “Seminars like this are invaluable in our quest to raise American player development to new levels”.

This is what Paulo Cardoso, the Sporting CP Chief Scout has to say about the partnership:
“Sporting Clube de Portugal is very proud to be a Georgia Soccer partner in a project that will leave a Legacy for American grassroots soccer. We have the experience and the results on the production of soccer players and this know-how will be shared with Georgia coaches. Luís Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani are only a few examples of what we have done in the recent past. We are taking the first steps towards a long term relationship, and the next step will be this coaches’ course, conducted by two experts from our Academy. We are very excited and committed to this event and we look forward to meeting Georgia Soccer’s coaches.”

Seminar Fee: $50 for Georgia Soccer members and $300 for non-members

Location:  Classroom lectures will be conducted at the Georgia Soccer (MAP) office and the field sessions will be done at the Silverbacks Park (MAP).
