ODP Tryouts  2019–2020 Registration Information

What is tryout process at the State Level?
In most ages, the tryout process in Georgia starts with Preliminary Tryouts in September followed immediately by the State Tryouts in September or October.  Some of the older age groups do not have Preliminary Tryouts due to the smaller number of players involved.  In those instances, all the players go directly to the State Tryouts.  The Preliminary Tryouts are open for all age-eligible players.  Those who do well in the Preliminary Tryouts are invited to the State Tryouts and are joined there by the players who were in the State pools in the previous year.  Typically, between 50 to 80 players are involved in the State Tryouts, depending on the age group.  At the State Tryouts, a State Pool of 30-40 players is selected (the younger ages tend to have bigger pools than the older ages).

What is the Tryout Fee?
The Preliminary Tryout fee is $45.  The State Tryout fee is also $45.  When you register your child for ODP tryouts online, you will be prompted to pay the fee.  If you advance from the Preliminary Tryouts to the State Tryouts, you will have to register again online for the State Tryouts and pay again the $45 fee.

Eligible age Groups
(Players born in Calendar year January 1 to December 31).  Players born in 2003 thru 2008.  Boys and girls younger or older are not eligible, no exceptions.

Exempt List
Players who were in the State pool last year, plus a few selected players from the DTC program and the Pre-ODP player ID are Exempt from the Preliminary tryouts and can register directly for the State Tryouts.  To view the Exempt list, please CLICK below.

All other age groups go directly to State Tryouts, since there are NO preliminaries. 

Registration Deadlines
Players must register online before the deadline for each tryout.  The deadline information can be found once you click on the applicable age group tryout registration on the “Welcome Page”.  There is a $50 late Tryout Fee which will be added to the $45 tryout fee for a total of $95

Check-In
Players must download and bring a completed Medical Release Form to the Tryouts and submit it at check-in.  Medical Release form does NOT have to be notarized.

State and Preliminary tryouts and Schedule – Girls  03/04 & 05’s and boys 03, 04 & 05’s Do NOT have Preliminary tryouts, they need to register directly for the State Tryouts.
