The District Training Centers Program (DTC) is designed to provide advanced training to players in the outlying areas of Georgia. The goals of the program are:
To act as a feeder system into the State Olympic Development Program (ODP) for players in the outlying areas of the state
To help players in these outlying areas who are looking for additional training to supplement their club activities
To help top players of our member clubs reach their potential by providing a challenging program in close proximity that requires a short commute
To teach the DTC players the ODP playing style of possession soccer and prepare them for ODP
The Georgia Soccer DTC program was launched in 2000 in Tifton. Since then, we have gradually expanded the program to other sites based on demand and membership demographics. This year, we will have four District Training Centers: Tifton, Savannah, Warner Robins/Macon and Dalton. So far, more than 40 players have advanced from the DTC to the State ODP. (Please note that this is a separate program from the State ODP. Information on the State Olympic Development Program is posted separately.)
For the 2019-2020 season, the players eligible for this program are boys and girls born in the calendar years 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009s, January 1 to December 31. No other birth years are allowed.
Tryouts for DTC are scheduled for November 5th (Tifton), November 6th (Savannah) and November 7th (Warner Robins). The players selected from all four birth years (2006 through 2009) will be combined into one DTC Pool at each center. The pool will train in one group when working on technique, and be split by age and size for small-sided games. The pool will be split for games against other DTC sites to achieve size-appropriate match-ups. The pools will train once a week throughout the winter and finish with a DTC Festival. The training sessions will start in November and finish at the end of January.
The tryout fee is $45. The training fee is $120 for the three-month program and will be collected from the players who make the DTC pools in November.
Training will start the week of November 11, 2019 and conclude at the end of January 2020. Time and location of training is as follows:
Warner Robins: Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 PM; CGSA Soccer Complex
Tifton: Wednesdays in November, Tuesdays in January, 6:30 - 8:30 PM; Friendly City Park
Savannah: Wednesdays, 6:00 - 8:00 PM; Jennifer Ross Complex
The State Director of Coaching will oversee the program and visit each DTC site at least once a month. Each site will have a head coach who will work with staff coaches appointed by the State DOC. The coaches will be from top local clubs and/or colleges.
