HomeREQUEST A MENTOR

REQUEST A MENTOR

Background:

The Georgia Soccer Referee Mentoring Program is a collaboration between Georgia Referees, Assignors, and Clubs. The program is staffed by experienced referees who are also U.S. Soccer certified Coaches, Mentors, or both. Mentoring is a less formal program that supplements, but does not replace, the more formal Referee Assessment and Referee Academy programs. Each of these programs play a role in achieving the objective of helping Georgia referees develop and improve to their full potential.

Program Management:

The Georgia State Referee Committee has identified and trained a group of Mentors that will spend time observing referee crews at regular season and tournament matches at various soccer venues throughout the state. The success of the program depends in large part on the combined efforts of assignors throughout the state and the Mentoring Program Manager, Bill Wagner. Both Bill and the State Director of Assignment, will be opening lines of communication with the assignors in order to make this program successful.

Requesting a Mentor:

If your club, league, or tournament would like to request a mentor to assist with referee training and development, please fill out the following form: Referee Mentor Request.

The longer the lead time provided, the more likely your request will be full-filled. Referee assignments are not needed to fill out the request.  Please review your schedules and put in mentor requests for any busy weekends where you have a lot of regular season games, tournaments, or events.

This is a free developmental opportunity provided by the State Referee Committee for all U.S. Soccer affiliated clubs, leagues, and tournaments.
